We are Alliance Managers. We've had the privilege of working in, and leading, alliance organizations for some of the largest companies in the world and for more modest sized companies.
We have lived the reality of striking a delicate balancing between developing the organization's overall partnering skills, with the immediate need to sign up new partners, resolve conflicts, and deliver results. But the urgent wins over the important. We found ourselves wishing we had someone to help with these foundational activities while we were busy with the day-to-day challenges of managing our partnerships. We needed a partnering partner.
So we created Professional Partnering Services, LLC to be that partnering partner. We're not consultants; we don't second-guess, or make extravagant recommendations to management and walk away. We work with, together, and as a part of our clients' alliance teams.
Management guru W. Edwards Deming once observed, "Learning is not compulsory ... neither is survival." We can learn from experience and we can learn from each other. ProPartnering is committed to pushing the boundaries of experiential learning through interactive seminars. We bring together alliance professionals with similar challenges to share insights each of us has learned. ProPartnering presents some of its models and tools, and challenges attendees to collaboratively explore their application to each individual's most pressing problems.
ProPartnering seminars focus on developing new skills and techniques, not academic exercises. Each seminar is designed to enable visible results within 90 days. Attendees leave with more than new insights; they go back to work with detailed plans for overcoming key obstacles to partnering success.
The toughest job in business today may be running an alliance organization. Your responsibilities cover the waterfront of business disciplines: sales, marketing, product management, human resources, project management, risk management, etc. The vast majority of your "extended team" doesn't work for you (many don't even work for your company), so you have to rely less on your formal position and more on your ability to influence. It's highly likely that your boss has little or no experience running an alliance and may not fully appreciate the challenges and complexities. There may be wildly unfounded expectations that have built up among your peers. And your partner is probably in the same position on all four counts.
ProPartnering's Leading an Alliance Team seminar provides you with insight, and some tools, to bring your extended team into alignment in support of partnership success. Hear the experiences of highly successful alliance leaders, build your own action plan by working with other alliance leaders currently facing the same challenges, and receive a follow-up coaching session to help you implement what you learned during the seminar.

ProPartnering provides professional services to partnering organizations that are serious about results.
We are Alliance Managers. We've had the privilege of working in, and leading, alliance organizations for some of the largest companies in the world and for more modest sized companies. We have taken charge of and restructured alliance programs, managed individual alliances, led marketing and operations for billion dollar channel programs, and played just about every other role there is in alliance management. Over this time we developed, used, and refined a simple, yet robust Six-Step Process for partner management. We experienced the challenges and made the mistakes, but have also been able to see the results (like 10- and 20-fold growth in revenues in the midst of the Telecom melt-down).
We have lived the reality of striking a delicate balancing between developing the organization's overall partnering skills, with the immediate need to sign up new partners, resolve conflicts, and deliver results. We know that success in partnering isn't easy - the overall failure rate for business alliances is still 70 after many years of work. Some think that partnering is a natural skill that most possess, but we know that it takes very specific skills and experience, and we have spent the time helping our colleagues understand and develop these skills.
We can step to the forefront to advocate a client's case, but mostly we disappear into the background to provide tools they use to achieve their wins. Our flexible set of services can be adapted to different circumstances and needs - all aimed at putting and keeping our clients among the 30 of alliance winners.
