I offer a training curriculum for the instruction of programmable logic controllers including the application, design, installation, programming and service of these devices. This curriculum will focus on energy management and HVAC/ R control. It is not an HVAC/ Heating/ AC course. Pre-requisites for this course would be a practical understanding of HVAC, Refrigeration, Building Systems, Electrical Power, trade tools and safety. The course would benefit Facility Technicians, Facility Managers, Boiler Operators, Chief Engineers, Electricians or HVAC Mechanical Contractors. Any contractor or maintenance employee would learn additional information about their trade. Homeowners desiring upgraded heating & air conditioning controls as well as temperature/ humidity monitoring in the home would benefit as well. Curriculum: 1. Programmable Logic Controls History & Application 2. PLC Functionality The inner workings of the PLC 3. Peripheral Devices What the PLC will control through device monitoring and actuation 4. System Design Designing a simple system for the classroom lab 5. Ladder Logic The written instructions that drive the PLC 6. PLC Panel Construction Putting it all together safely and conforming to the code (classroom lab & lecture) 7. PLC Programming Powering up the panel, sequences of operation, loading the project ladder logic (classroom lab & lecture) 8. PLC System Start-Up and Commissioning Device Check-Out and Operation 9. PLC & System Troubleshooting Creating errors & faults and subsequent repair
