Deep South Center for Occupational Health & Safety
The Center is a consortium of programs at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Auburn University and University of Alabama that offers graduate education in occupational health nursing, industrial hygiene, occupational safety and ergonomics and agricultural safety and health . As indicated by our mission and vision, the Deep South Center is dedicated to the protection and promotion of the health and safety of workers in our region. Our research efforts are focused on the National Occupational Research Agenda (NORA) priorities, especially as they pertain to the forestry and wood related industries because they are such an important component of the economy of this region, and so many workers are exposed to the inherent hazards in these industries.
