Via-Virtual offers social media courses for the job seeker. Twitter for job seeker courses are now available through November.
Each student is asked to bring a laptop and email account access. Your instructor will take you, step-by-step, with building a powerful profile; populating your network; targeting companies and hiring managers; and learning to communicate effectively in 140 characters or less. Twitter is extremely powerful and the average learning curve is 3 weeks plus. For job seekers, time is of the essence.
Our 2-hour, instructor-led, courses are held in one of our four training rooms located at our office in the Bishop Ranch Business Park in San Ramon.
Many job seekers are being asked about their social media skills and miss the opportunity for an interview if they do not have this knowledge. For many companies, it is now a requirement. Hiring managers are finding candidates with these skills on social media sites such as Twitter and Linkedin. Job seekers who have social media know-how not only stand out, they are leveraged by the know-how to locate jobs on Twitter which are not posted elsewhere. The candidate with social media skills can be the tie breaker in a hiring situation.

At via-virtual, it is our intention to provide job seekers with social media networking skills necessary to stand out in a very competitive job market.
As more companies are seeking candidates with these skills, our primary focus is to empower each candidate with the know-how and confidence to take a proactive approach in their job search. Learning social media networking skills will provide them with opportunities to build networks for job opportunities, target companies and hiring managers they are interested in, and give them the confidence to find jobs they desire. We also explain how utilizing these skills will bring them even more success in their careers.
Lynn Heikke, founder of via-virtual, has a background in marketing communications/ public relations, human resources/ contract recruiting, and product training, in the high-tech arena.
It is her personal mission to stay informed and updated with all social media tools, sites, changes, news, etc., and communicate every new development clearly and concisely to her instructors, for the benefit of our students.
