Bright Start Childcare Temporary Services offer staffing services and professional development trainings for center and home based child care providers and others who are interested in using the service.
Bright Star's mission is to support childcare workers with the knowledge, skills, and strategies necessary to develop and increase the effectiveness of all who are engaged in the teaching-learning process.
Bright Star's professional staff development enhances the educational development of infants and young children, including children with disabilities by providing high quality training to improve the knowledge and skills of early childhood educators and caregivers who work in early childhood, home-based and center-based programs to ultimately, improve teaching, children learning and success.
Our professional staff development, provide content which fulfills the requirement for professional development credit for childcare providers licensed by the Georgia Early Care and Education Professional Development System. It utilizes evidence-based practice focusing on early readiness, cognitive, social/ emotional, communicative, adaptive and physical development.
All trainings are approved by Bright from the Start and CEU credits are available.

Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders
: This training is an instructor led class and focuses on the identification, symptoms, criteria's for diagnosis, causes, treatment, education strategies, and laws that protect children diagnosed with ADHD. Some of the topics include: the history of ADHD, myth and facts, definition, symptoms, DSM-IV criteria for diagnosis, types of ADHD criteria, laws that protect children with ADHD, and more. (3 Hour Credit)
Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders
: This training will be instructor led and is designed to provide foundational information to child care providers about children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. It will empower child care providers to become active participants in the childa s learning and rehabilitation. Topics in this training will include psychological and behavioral characteristics of Autism and related disorders, causes, assessment, educational considerations, and more. (3 Hour Credit)
Children with Orthopedic Impairments
: This training is instructor led and focuses on physical and medical conditions of children with orthopedic impairments. It addresses what instructional staff need and guidelines for adaptations and accommodations. Topics in this training include What is orthopedic impairment? Criteria for Determining Eligibility; Eligibility Data; Eligibility and Placement; Types of Orthopedic Impairments; and Educational Considerations. (2 Hour Credit)
Identification of Children with Disabilities
: This training discusses the characteristics of children with disabilities; the identification, referral, and screening process; learning strategies; and laws that protect children with disabilities. It will raise awareness and understanding of children with disabilities and educational implications for fostering successful learning. (3 Hour Credit)
Understanding and Working with Children with Learning Disabilities
: This training focuses on the identification, instruction, self-determination, and assessment of individuals with specific learning disabilities, learning differences, and educational considerations. Attending this training will provide you with an understanding of learning disabilities, how children with LD learn, how their disability affect their learning, and how child care providers can use accommodations and strategies to help the child overcome any barriers to their learning. (2 Hour Credit)
Understanding Children with Emotional or Behavioral Disorders
: This training provides an examination of students with emotional and behavioral difficulties. Attention is given to, learner characteristics, identification, and instructional and behavioral classroom techniques. You will become empowered with the knowledge and understanding of children with emotional and behavioral disorders in addition to how to effectively impact the learning capacity of these children educationally and socially. (2 Hour Credit)
Who Are High Risk Children
: This training is instructor led and provides a framework for understanding high risk children. Topics include definition of high risk, risk categories, characteristics of high risk children, integrating high risk children into the learning environment, follow-up with high risk children, special programs for high risk children, and helpful resources. Participants will become empowered with the knowledge and understanding of high risk children in addition to how to effectively impact their learning capacity. (2 Hour Credit)
