Experience
Mr. Hathaway has over 30 years experience as a practitioner and instructor in information technology. He
has successfully facilitated over 300 accelerated JAD (Joint Application Development) sessions dealing
with mainframe, client/server and web-based applications in the US, Canada and Europe. As an instructor,
he has developed and presented hundreds of seminars to thousands of participants on Business System
Analysis, Design and Testing, System Development Methodologies, JAD Facilitation and Support,
Application Prototyping, Project Management, and the Unified Modeling Language (UML).
Throughout his career, Tom s major focus has been developing, using and teaching tools and techniques for
increasing the quality and accelerating the delivery of evolving information technology that meets the needs
of the business community. His talent for analyzing and synthesizing has resulted in original contributions
to the industry& 146;s body of knowledge in the areas of:
business analysis and information system design
process, data, and object modeling and analysis
business rule identification and documentation
business and information system testing
system development methodologies.
Recent accomplishments:
Developed and presented a curriculum for advanced business system analysis, testing, Joint
Application Requirement session facilitation, and the Unified Modeling Language (UML)
The creation of corporate and business area data flow diagrams (DFD), entity/relationship
diagrams (ERD), and business requirements for selecting and implementing an ERP system
Requirements analysis of a corporate-wide data warehouse for a 1.2 billion dollar business
Identified all hardware, software and business requirements to assure accurate and timely billing of
telecommunications services in a mandated competitive environment
Personality
With an aptitude for adapting to changing environments, Mr. Hathaway spent 20 years living and working
in Germany. His self-acquired native-level fluency in German is enhanced by the ease with which Tom
handles multi-cultural encounters. Extensive experience coupled with natural interpersonal skills, high
intelligence (MENSA member), a capacity for effective communication and a wry sense of humor add up
to a dynamic and informative presenter and instructor.
