Wai K Leong

Wai is a Professional Certified Coach and founder of JMC Consulting Sdn. Bhd. He brings with him more than 21 years of experience in the manufacturing, services and retail Industries; spanning his experience across a wide spectrum of industries, both local and multi-national.

Wai is a Professional Certified Coach accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF), US and is the current President of ICF Malaysian Chapter. He represents Coachville (US) as Country Director and he sits in as a board member of Asia-Pacific Alliance of Coaches (APAC). He obtained his professional coaching training from International Coach Academy, Australia. He is the author of the book "Empowering Asian Mindsets through Coaching" distributed worldwide.

In his capacity as a corporate and executive coach and trainer, he draws from his wide experience - gained in marketing, sales and operations through his previous roles as an engineer, manager, trainer and consultant. He was also a Group General Manager of a public listed company. In 2003, Wai and his team, designed and launched the first known web-based coaching system called C.O.A.Ch

He started his career with a multinational semiconductor company in Penang as an Industrial Engineer specializing in Indirect Labor Productivity. He pioneered Intel Malaysia s effort to improve productivity in Product and Process Engineering, Costing & Finance, Shipping, Warehousing, Maintenance and Quality Assurance, which led him to win the coveted Asia-Pacific Productivity Award in 1986.

His interest in helping companies improve their productivity, systems and marketing spurred his move to another multinational consulting and training organization as a Senior Consultant and Management Trainer. He successfully implemented processes and trained the client s management team, which led to improved sales, productivity and cost savings for a number of well-established companies including, Metal Box, Gold Coin, Malaysian Tobacco Company and Dunlop Australia.

In 1988, Wai strengthened his insight of local organizations by joining an established local conglomerate, acknowledged by the industry as one of the most well managed in Malaysia. During his 10-year career there he gained wide experiences in manufacturing, retail operations, financial services and distribution. His appreciation of the complexities of businesses, big and small grew with this exposure.

At the age of 30, he was promoted to the position of a General Manager, the youngest person then, to be accorded a senior position within the group. His experience as a General Manager/CEO of a manufacturing facility gave him the depth of experience he needed to complement his broad skills.

In 1997, Wai served a public-listed company specializing in marketing and communication, as its Group General Manager. During that period, Wai was elected the O.A.A.M President, an acknowledgement of his leadership within this industry.

He has contributed and published many management and business articles to news media, magazines and newsletters among them, The Star, The New Straits Times, The Malaysian Enterprise and The Management (MIM). He has coached and trained many companies from small, medium to large organizations. Among some of his clients include Prudential, Intel, DKSH, Nestle, IBM, GSK, HSBC, Standard Chartered Bank, TEC Asia, Bridgestone Corp and many others. (Testimonials)

He graduated with an Honors degree in Education. He is a keen sportsman with a passion for golf, scuba diving and mountain climbing.
